Actor Mark Wahlberg was one of the original members of the boy band New Kids On The Block.
In 1984, record producer Maurice Starr conducted an audition around Boston for a new boy band. The original members of this group which is now known as the New Kids On The Block were Boston kids Donnie Wahlberg and younger brother Mark Wahlberg (who was only 13 years old at the time), Danny Wood, Jordan Knight and older brother Jonathan Knight. But before the group could start recording songs, Mark quit from the group. He wanted a different musical direction. He was eventually replaced by 12 year old Joey McIntyre.
