Alvin and the Chipmunks is an American music group consists of three singing animated chipmunks. The members are: Alvin, the naughty one; Simon, the tall and bespectacled one; and Theodore, the chubby one. They are managed by their adoptive father David "Dave" Seville, which is actually the stage name of the group's creator Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. who created them in 1958 for a novelty record.

The chipmunks were named after the three executives of Liberty Records - Simon Waronker, All Bennett and Theodore Keep. The group's debut album Let's All Sing with the Chipmunks was released on January 1, 1959. To date, the group had released more than forty albums, including six Christmas albums and more than thirty singles.
