MADONNA - PAPA DON'T PREACH LYRICS

Choice quotes from the song:

"But my friends keep telling me to give it up, saying I'm too young I ought to live it up.  What I need right now is some good advice. Please."

"Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep.  Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep.  But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby."

This song is about a girl who confessed to her beloved Dad that she's pregnant. The girl was told by her friends "to give it up", in my understanding, "to give it up" means to stop her pregnancy. Good thing that the girl realized that her friends' advice won't solve her problem, and that she needs some really good advice.

In the end, she decided to KEEP her baby, which is the best thing to do. I'm not encouraging teenage pregnancy, but if it happens, it is not right to just kill a defenseless fetus for abortion is murder. It is a mortal sin.

This song peaked at the number one spot in the music charts of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Norway, UK and U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
