One of my all-time favorite quotations is from Kurt Cobain who stated "I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not."
I agree with Kurt Cobain. What is the use of being loved when the person they really love is not the real you. Who are you fooling? The only person that you cannot fool is yourself.
It is so uncomfortable to pretend just to please other people, it is hard to be someone else, because sooner or later, our true self will surface, our true colors will come out.
On the other hand, it is so nice to be liked or loved just the way you are, to be accepted and appreciated just the way you are. So whether people will like you or not, just be yourself. You cannot please everybody anyway.
