The song from A-ha’s first album Hunting High and Low was
written by A-ha’s members Magne Furuholmen, Morten Harket and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. It was released in 1985. The song went to number one in the music
charts of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland,
U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and of course in A-ha’s own home Norway.
The music video of
this song won numerous awards in the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards: Best New
Artist in A Video, Best Concept Video, Best Experimental Video, Best Direction
in a Video, Best Special Effects in a Video and Viewer’s Choice.
The song was
covered, sampled and performed in concerts and shows by so many artists such as
Jonas Brothers, A1, Tori Amos, Madonna, Coldplay and Pitbull. This only shows the strong impact of this
song being appreciated by artists of different genres.
